What is Verneuil sapphire?

The Verneuil method, developed by Auguste Verneuil in the late 1800s, involves melting powdered alumina (Al2O3) and allowing it to solidify into a single-crystal boule before being faceted and set into its setting. These stones are chemically, structurally, and optically identical to their natural counterparts, just made in a controlled laboratory environment. They share the same composition, crystal structure, stunning brilliance, and exceptional hardness (9 on the Mohs scale), ensuring the same lasting beauty and durability
